Credits tracking software

Startup Cloud Credits ManagerDo you know the day your startup credits run out, and what your first real cloud bill will be?

Every credit balance, burn rate and expiry date in one place, with a warning before the cliff

Startup credits hide the real cost of your stack until the day they run out or expire, and then the whole bill arrives at once. The Credits Manager reads your AWS and Google Cloud billing, tracks every credit grant you hold, including AI provider credits, and tells you each week how many months you have left, which credits will expire unused, which charges your credits are not covering, and what the first full bill will be. Free for 14 days, then from $19 a month.

Your team's time: about 20 minutes to connect billing and add your credits, then a weekly email or Slack message to read.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • You are a seed or Series A startup on AWS Activate, Google for Startups or AI provider credits, and nobody is sure when they end.
  • Your burn is growing, and you need the post-credits cloud bill in the financial model before investors ask.
  • You hold credits from several programs with different expiry dates and rules, and some will lapse before you can use them.
  • You run an accelerator or a venture studio and track your portfolio companies' credits in a spreadsheet, or not at all.

Probably not for you if

  • You have no credits left. You need cost cutting, not tracking: see the Cloud Cost Audit.
  • Your credits are mostly on Microsoft Azure. You can type Azure balances in by hand, but the Credits Manager does not connect to Azure billing.
  • You want someone to move workloads for you. We tell you what to shift and by when; your team decides and does it.

What you walk away with

01

Your cliff date, before it arrives

For every credit grant: the balance, the monthly burn, the day it runs out at your current growth, and whether it expires first with money left on it.

02

The first real bill, in your model

What AWS, Google Cloud and your AI providers will bill each month once the credits end, so the number is in the plan months ahead instead of on the first invoice.

03

No surprise charges while credits last

An alert the moment you are billed for something your credits do not cover, such as Marketplace products or third-party AI models, and a warning before any grant expires or runs out.

When do your credits run out?

A quick forecast with the numbers you type in: the day each grant runs out or expires, the credits you would lose, and the bill after the cliff. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Credit grant 1
Credit grant 2

One row per provider. Monthly spend is what that provider would bill you before credits. Credits only pay their own provider's charges.

Enter the credits left, the monthly spend and the expiry date for at least one provider.

Runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere. A simple forecast at a steady growth rate: the Credits Manager uses your real monthly billing data and updates it every week.

What is included

What the service covers. Each package under Pricing lists exactly which of these it includes and how much of your estate it covers.

Every grant, one ledger

AWS Activate, Google for Startups Cloud, AI provider credits from OpenAI, Anthropic and others, and on Pro the credits from tools such as Cloudflare, MongoDB and Datadog, each with its amount, balance, expiry date and what it covers.

Balances and burn read for you

AWS credit balances, expiry dates and monthly burn are read through AWS's read-only credits interface. Google Cloud burn is read from your billing export. For Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, which show balances only in their consoles, you copy each grant in once and the burn keeps it current.

Runway forecast, program rules included

The run-out date of each grant from your trailing three-month burn and growth, compared with its expiry. Program rules are modeled: AWS applies the credit that expires soonest first, and Google for Startups covers only 20% of spend in year two, so the jump at the first anniversary is forecast too.

Cliff-day bill

The monthly bill per provider once each grant ends, as a range, and the first month your cloud bill comes out of your bank account.

Alerts that matter

Slack or email when a grant is 90, 60, 30 or 7 days from expiry or from running out, when burn jumps, when you are billed for something your credits do not cover, and when a prepaid AI balance is low enough to stop your API calls.

A weekly digest

One short message every Monday: months of runway per grant, what changed, and the one thing to do this week.

Portfolio view for accelerators

On the Accelerator plan, every portfolio company in one table, ranked by the nearest cliff, with a cliff calendar and a monthly summary for your partners. Each company chooses whether you see its full detail or only the summary.

What we hand over

  • A credits ledger: every grant, balance, burn and expiry
  • Weekly runway digest by email, or Slack on Pro
  • Alerts before each expiry or run-out, and for charges your credits do not cover
  • Cliff-day bill forecast per provider
  • Recommendations to use expiring credits, each with a deadline
  • A monthly CSV of the ledger for your financial model

  2. Day 1

    Connect billing, add your credits

Read-only billing access for AWS and Google Cloud, or a small monthly export, and the balance and expiry date of each grant AWS cannot tell us, copied from each provider's credits page. About 20 minutes.

  3. Within 2 business days

    Your first runway report

Every grant with its run-out date, expiry, credits at risk and the first bill after the cliff, and what to do about each.

  4. Every Monday

The data we need from you

Two things: the credits you hold, and how fast you spend them. AWS reports both through a read-only interface; for Google Cloud and AI providers, the burn comes from your billing and each grant's balance and expiry date come from you, because those providers show them only in their consoles.

  • AWS: read-only access to Cost Explorer and the AWS credits interface, which reads every credit's balance, expiry date and monthly use. Or the figures from the Credits page in the AWS Billing console and a monthly Cost Explorer CSV.
  • Google Cloud: read access to your billing export dataset, or the result of the short credits query on the Data upload help page, run once a month. Plus each grant's amount and expiry from the Credits page in Google Cloud Billing.
  • AI providers: each grant's balance and expiry from the provider's billing page, and optionally a monthly usage export from OpenAI, Anthropic or another provider.

How it reaches us: Files go through a secure upload link or a reply to our email. Everything is stored encrypted in Finitizer's Google Cloud environment in the US, used only to run your Credits Manager, and deleted within 30 days of cancelling, or sooner on request.

Step-by-step: how to export and upload this data

Access and security

We read billing totals and credit records. We never read your application data, and we can never change anything in your cloud accounts or your credits.

  • AWS: a read-only role limited to billing, deployed as one CloudFormation stack with keyless trust. It can read Cost Explorer and your credits, and cannot redeem, transfer or split a credit, read your data or change a resource.
  • Google Cloud: BigQuery Data Viewer on the billing export dataset only, granted to a dedicated Finitizer reader identity. No keys are created.
  • AI providers and Microsoft Azure: nothing connects. You send a usage export or type in the balance; we do not ask for API keys, because some providers' admin keys cannot be limited to reading.
  • On the Accelerator plan each portfolio company connects its own billing and sees only its own data; the accelerator sees the full detail or only the summary, as each company chooses.

Who does the work

The forecasts and alerts run on the Finitizer platform. During early access a FinOps Engineer sets up your account with you and checks your first runway report, and a FinOps Practitioner reviews the recommendations before they reach you.

FinOps Engineers

Connect the read-only access, run the analysis on the Finitizer platform, write the Terraform changes, SQL rewrites and reservation commands, and check every number against your bill.

FinOps Practitioners

FinOps-certified. Review and rank every finding, run your review calls and readouts, build the reporting and the practice around it, and lead the training.

Frequently asked questions

Is this software or a service?

Software, run by people during early access. The forecasts and alerts come from the Finitizer platform's billing collectors and forecasting, and a FinOps Engineer sets up your account with you and checks your first report. You receive the digest and alerts by email or Slack; a self-serve dashboard is on our roadmap, and early customers keep their price.

Which balances can it read by itself?

AWS: all of them. Since July 2026 AWS offers a read-only interface for credits, so balances, expiry dates and monthly use are read for you. Google Cloud, OpenAI and Anthropic show balances and expiry dates only in their consoles, so you copy each grant in once; from then on the burn read from your billing or a usage export keeps the balance current.

Why did we get a bill while we still had credits?

Because credits only cover what each program says they cover. AWS credits exclude Marketplace products, upfront fees for Savings Plans and Reserved Instances and some support plans. Google for Startups credits exclude Marketplace and third-party models. Microsoft startup credits do not cover partner models such as Claude in Azure AI Foundry, which several startups learned from four-figure bills in 2026. The Credits Manager alerts you the first time such a charge appears.

What happens on cliff day?

From the day a grant runs out or expires, the charges it covered are billed to your card or invoice. On AWS a credit still covers the billing month in which it expires, so the first full bill is the month after. Google for Startups is different: in year two it covers only 20% of eligible spend, so the bill jumps at the first anniversary. If your burn has grown while credits hid it, the first full bill can be several times what you expect. We tell you the date and the amount months ahead, per provider.

Which credits can it track?

Any credit with an amount and an expiry date: AWS Activate, Google for Startups Cloud, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini prepaid credits, and on Pro the credits from tools such as Cloudflare, MongoDB and Datadog. Microsoft Azure credits can be typed in by hand; we do not connect to Azure.

What do the recommendations look like?

Specific and dated, and only for spend the credits really cover. For example: your Google Cloud credits expire in 70 days with about $18,000 unused, so run the planned model evaluation there before then; or your AWS credits run out in four months, so budget about $6,400 a month from that date and fix the two largest items of waste first. We never suggest burning credits on things they exclude, such as upfront commitment fees.

How does the Accelerator plan work?

You invite each portfolio company. Each one connects its own billing and adds its own credits, and sees only its own runway. You see every company in one table ranked by the nearest cliff, with a cliff calendar and a monthly summary for your partners. Companies that prefer it can share only the summary: credits, run-out date and risk, not their line items. Up to 25 companies, then $10 per company a month.

Is our billing data safe?

Access is read-only and keyless on AWS and Google Cloud, and limited to billing. Data is stored encrypted in Finitizer's Google Cloud environment in the US, used only to run your Credits Manager, and deleted within 30 days of cancelling. We sign your NDA if you have one.

What happens after the free trial?

Nothing changes unless you want it to. If you keep going, each month is invoiced at the end of the month; if not, tell us before day 14 and nothing is owed. No card is needed to start.

How do we pay, and can we cancel?

Nothing is paid upfront. After the 14-day free trial each month is invoiced at the end of the month, by card or bank transfer, and you can cancel any month with one email. Yearly billing gives you two months free.
