Monthly retainer

Your FinOps team, without the hire

Every month a FinOps-certified practitioner runs your cloud cost program on the Finitizer platform: finds the waste, prepares the fixes, and reports what changed. A flat monthly fee, never a percentage of your cloud bill.

Your team's time: one review call a month, plus merging the changes you approve.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • You spend $20,000 to $400,000 a month on AWS or Google Cloud and nobody owns the bill.
  • A FinOps hire is a year away, or would be one person with no tooling.
  • You already have a FinOps lead who needs a bench and a platform behind them.
  • Finance wants a monthly view of where the money goes and what is being done about it.

Probably not for you if

  • You only need a one-off answer. The Cloud Cost Audit is a better fit.
  • You want changes made in production without your team reviewing them.
  • You run mainly on Azure. We do not cover it today.

What you walk away with

01

A cost program that actually runs

Findings reviewed, fixes prepared and progress reported every month, on a schedule, without anyone on your side having to chase it.

02

Fixes, not recommendations

Each month we prepare the top changes as Terraform pull requests or Jira tickets with an owner, so they land in the work your engineers already do.

03

A number finance can use

A monthly report of what shipped, what each change is worth, what is next, and how spend is trending against budget.

What is included

Every package includes all of this. The tiers below change the size of the estate we cover and how much hands-on help you get.

A baseline audit in month one

The full Cloud Cost Audit, included, so the program starts from a priced, ranked list rather than a blank page.

A named FinOps lead

One FinOps-certified practitioner who knows your estate, runs your reviews and answers your questions.

Prepared fixes every month

The highest-value changes written as Terraform pull requests, runbooks or Jira tickets, ready for your team to review and merge.

Anomaly watch

Unusual spend flagged by Slack or email, with the likely cause, so a runaway job is caught in days rather than at month end.

Commitment reviews

Regular checks of Savings Plan, Reserved Instance and committed use discount coverage, with a recommended purchase plan.

Platform access for your team

Your engineers and finance leads can see the same dashboards, findings and task status we work from in the Finitizer platform.

What we hand over

  • Monthly savings report: what shipped, estimated monthly saving, what is next
  • Prepared changes as Terraform pull requests, runbooks or Jira tickets
  • Anomaly alerts by Slack or email
  • Commitment purchase plan at every review
  • Showback of spend by team or product (Growth and Scale)
  • Quarterly summary for finance and leadership

How it works

  1. Week 0

    Scoping call and agreement

We confirm clouds, spend band and goals, agree the tier and send a one-page agreement.

  2. Day 1

    Connect read-only access

The same keyless, read-only setup as the audit: a CloudFormation stack per AWS account, or a short script in Google Cloud Shell.

  3. Weeks 1 to 2

    Baseline audit

A full audit of your estate, priced and ranked, which becomes the backlog for the program.

  4. Every month

    Find, fix, track

We prepare the next batch of fixes, watch for anomalies, review commitments and follow each change through to done.

  5. Every month

    Monthly review and report

A review call with your team and a written report of what shipped, what it is worth and what comes next.

Pricing

Billed monthly in advance. Three-month minimum, then month to month with 30 days notice. A flat fee: we never charge a percentage of your cloud bill.

Request Scale
  • Many managed FinOps providers ask for six months up front. We ask for three, because the baseline audit in month one shows you quickly whether this is worth it.
  • Spending more than $400,000 a month? Book a call for a quote.
  • Your tier is reviewed each quarter. If your spend moves into another band, we agree any change with you first; it never changes mid-month.

No lock-in after three months

After the first three months you can stop with 30 days notice. You keep every report, workbook and Terraform change we produced.

Access and security

The retainer uses the same read-only, keyless access as the audit. We prepare changes; your team approves and applies them.

  • AWS: one CloudFormation stack per account creates a single read-only IAM role. No keys, no shared secrets, no admin rights.
  • Explicit deny rules block reading your data: S3 objects, DynamoDB items, CloudWatch Logs, container images and Lambda invocation.
  • Google Cloud: viewer roles granted to a dedicated Finitizer reader identity at project or folder level. No keys are created.
  • Pull requests are opened through a GitHub App you install on the repositories you choose, and you can remove it at any time.
  • Your data lives in a dedicated dataset in Finitizer's Google Cloud environment in the US, and is deleted on request when you leave.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from buying the Finitizer platform?

The platform gives your team the findings and the tooling; your people still have to run the program. With FinOps-as-a-Service a practitioner runs it for you on the same platform: reviews, prepared fixes, follow-up and reporting.

Why a flat fee and not a percentage of our bill?

A fee that grows with your cloud bill rewards the wrong outcome. A flat fee by spend band keeps our incentive on making your bill smaller, and makes the cost easy to budget.

Do you make changes in our accounts?

No. Our cloud access is read-only. We prepare changes as pull requests, runbooks or tickets, and your engineers review and merge them like any other change.

What is a prepared fix?

A specific change, ready to apply: the Terraform diff or the exact console or CLI steps, the expected monthly saving, the risk and how to roll it back.

How do you report savings?

Every month we list each change that shipped with its estimated monthly saving, alongside how your actual spend is trending. We are careful to separate estimates from what your bill shows.

Why not just hire a FinOps engineer?

You may in time. A full-time hire typically costs more than twice our top tier, takes months to recruit, and arrives without tooling. The retainer gets the program running now, and if you hire later we hand everything over.

How fast do you respond to a spend anomaly?

Alerts are reviewed on business days. Growth and Scale customers hear from us in the shared Slack channel within one business day, with the likely cause and the fix.

We already have a FinOps person. Is this still useful?

Often more so. We become their platform and their bench: the scanning, the analysis and the preparation of fixes, so they can spend their time with engineering and finance.

Are commitment purchases included?

Reviews and a recommended purchase plan are included. If you want us to manage commitments month to month, with utilization tracking and renewals, add Commitment Management.

Which clouds do you cover?

AWS and Google Cloud, including BigQuery. Databricks is covered through the BigQuery and Databricks Cost Audit. Azure is not covered today.

Can we cancel?

Yes. After the three-month minimum, give 30 days notice. Everything we produced stays with you.
